But at least I can get the parts ordered and have them waiting. I've been working both jobs a lot and with stupid Daylight Saving Time kicked in, there's not enough daylight left after my part time job.

I can romp on it at take off and it'll jump up and go! Kinda scared to really get on it when it does this as I'm afraid I'll twist the driveshaft or an axle! lol Plus it hits each gear so hard that, if the tires weren't so big, they'd probably bark each time.Īnyway, I guess replacing both sensors isn't on my long list of honey do's for the D. That's when I really notice those 3.56 gears in it. Now, I do like the feeling of it when it acts up? like when I have to get on it to shift. Then there are sluggish days also where it just doesn't seem to get up to speed without really getting in it. Plus, as I said, there are days when it simply runs normal with no problems. Also, if I get a chance like at a red light, I can shut off the motor and restart and it runs normal again. What sucks about it is, when I'm in my neighborhood or say a school zone and have to do 20MPH, it won't shift! So here I am cruising at 3000RPM unless I romp on it to make it shift and that's not prudent in a school zone. Some days I have to get into the gas hard to get it to shift and other days it runs normal. I'm assuming the transmission is still running good for you? Looks like I'll be replacing these parts on my my '98 D as well as my issues are pretty much the same as yours. I greatly appreciate any help because I'm not sure where to go now with this issue. I guess too many of them were failing and maybe they realized they couldn't sell them for the same price anymore.

Interesting fact he told me was how Mopar originally sold the governor solenoid and pressure sensor many years ago, maybe when this transmission was newer, and the price was around $400 before they lowered the cost. So, what could my issue be? It doesn't seem like my transmission is going to die on me any time soon and he said it looks good on the inside as far as wear and tear go so I don't think I'll have to do a rebuild if I can isolate what this problem might be. He did some reading today and found where it could be electrical connectors contributing to the problem, but he checked those and they looked okay to him. He seemed puzzled, as he just did a similar job on another 46RE transmission (I think they're the 518's?) and it solved the problem they were having which was identical to mine. I had the owner of the shop change everything out today and things went fine, but the problem appears to be still there. It sounds to me like this is a common problem on the 46RE's and these parts usually solve it. So I bought the parts, filter, new gasket and ATF4 fluid and went to a good local transmission shop in my town. If I didn't manually shift, then the rpm's would rev up considerably as I accelerated and finally it'd shift into another gear almost with a "slam." After doing considerable research, not only on this forum but several places on the internet, it seemed my problem wasn't too difficult? Governor Solenoid and Pressure Sensor. Here's my story: My transmission started acting up about 3-4 weeks ago when it appeared I didn't have first gear unless I manually shifted it myself. If youre not looking to pay over a grand to have your transmission rebuilt (at least thats what the guy quoted at the transmission shop), try the least exp.
